Excellent message and a good reminder to be listening for God’s call. It was neat hearing the sermon that you gave while Chapelwood was still in the selection process. You must have really impressed them since they still picked you after a 50 minute sermon (I only knew it was long because it said so on my MP3 player). Keep the messages comin’.
Thanks Dave! Yeah, I gave them every chance I could to be free of me. Sometimes I felt like I was actually trying to convince them to hire one of the other guys. But they definitely don’t seem to mind a long sermon.
“I felt like I was actually trying to convince them to hire one of the other guys”…ironically, this was probably the sermon that finally convinced them that you were the one – notice how convince and convict sound alike. We all need that conviction from the Word to move us along and your message did that.
You’re probably right, but I know a lot of people hate to be convicted. It’s so much easier to convince people that they’re fine just the way they are. Stroking egos is often more welcomed than motivating any real change in lifestyle. But it’s definitely cool when people do welcome the truth.
