Here’s our latest project at church…
Apparently nobody has done any painting or decorating in the Sunday School classrooms for a couple of decades, and Jenna decided it would be nice to spruce things up a bit, and she recruited her sister Emmy to help. The girls thought it would be fun to paint an ocean mural in one of the rooms, and they asked me to help with painting the color of the water. I said yes, not knowing that I was going to get roped into helping with all the detailing too. Tricky girls!
Well, we started painting on Monday, and I thought it would be fun to share some of our progress. Besides, it’s about time to get some posts up with pictures! Right?
The room was some kind of a tan color to start off with. So step one was laying down some basic water colors. Here’s Emmy rolling on…
Then we blended the colors a bit and added some lighting details…
And we started our first critter – a friendly killer whale. Here’s Jenna doing some outlining…
Here he is all colored in…
Lookout you little baby seals! Mr. Orcha is hungry!
Once we had freed Willy it was time to work on Flipper…
And here’s our dolphin all ready to swim…
Now we need someone to swim with the dolphins. Look, it’s Scuba Steve…
Maybe we should have all the kids wear snorkels and flippers to class…
Hopefully they don’t feel the need to hold their breath every time they come to Sunday School…
And our last sea creature for the day was the ghost of Crush. Ok he’s not really a ghost, just an outline…
Here’s Jenna filling in some color…
Dude…sea turtles rock. Well, that’s enough for one day. We were having fun, but it was late and we were tired.
Very nice! I especially like the whale.
It looks great! Can’t wait to see what’s next. Hopefully the ugly paneling in the nursery.
I hope what’s next is cleaning the carpets or somehow getting rid of whatever is causing the smell down there. I don’t know if some baby’s diaper got left in the nursery or what, but one corner in that room is ripe!
PU! I think there’s a dead animal in the wall. Let’s knock it down and find out. Wait, we just spent hours and hours painting the wall. I guess the smell stays.
