John 12:23-27 Jesus replied, “Now the time has come for the Son of Man to enter into his glory. ²⁴I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat is planted in the soil and dies, it remains alone. But its death will produce many new kernels—a plentiful harvest of new lives. ²⁵Those who love their life in this world will lose it. 2 Timothy 4:1-5 I solemnly urge you in the presence of God and Christ Jesus, who will someday judge the living and the dead when he appears to set up his Kingdom: ²Preach the word of God. Patiently correct, rebuke, and encourage your people with good teaching. ³For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear. ⁴They will reject the truth and chase after myths. ⁵But you should keep a clear mind in every situation. Don’t be afraid of suffering for the Lord. Work at telling others the Good News, and fully carry out the ministry God has given you.

1^st John 1:5-9 This is the message we heard from Jesus and now declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all. ⁶So we are lying if we say we have fellowship with God but go on living in spiritual darkness; we are not practicing the truth. ⁷But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin. ⁸If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth. ⁹But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.

Psalm 34:8-18 Taste and see that the Lord is good.  Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him! ⁹Fear the Lord, you his godly people, for those who fear him will have all they need. ¹⁰Even strong young lions sometimes go hungry, but those who trust in the Lord will lack no good thing.

¹¹Come, my children, and listen to me, and I will teach you to fear the Lord. ¹²Does anyone want to live a life that is long and prosperous? ¹³Then keep your tongue from speaking evil and your lips from telling lies! ¹⁴Turn away from evil and do good.  Search for peace, and work to maintain it.

¹⁵The eyes of the Lord watch over those who do right; his ears are open to their cries for help. ¹⁶But the Lord turns his face against those who do evil; he will erase their memory from the earth. ¹⁷The Lord hears his people when they call to him for help.  He rescues them from all their troubles. ¹⁸The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.
